Characters is the home of South Australian Illustrator, Mandy Foot. So named as this is what she enjoys most - capturing the character of her subject, whether it be a realistic pet portrait or stampeding farm animals in a children's book - it's all about the character!

 

The paintbrush has barely had a chance to dry! The pigs might be firmly grounded in Old MacDonald's Farm, but Captain Kangaroo and his crew have taken to the skies in my most recent children's book 'Come Fly with Captain Kangaroo'. As he flies across the amazing Australian landscape, he has quite an assortment of passengers - from Mrs P. (short for platypus) who seems to insist on taking to much luggage, to a frill neck who is scared of flying, and an ever increasing family of possums, always up to mischief - there were a lot of possums to paint! Have fun counting these as you read through the book. Published by Hachette Australia it will be available in all good book stores from the end of August 2011and also has it's very own website http://www.captainkangaroo.com.au/ which is full of activities, colouring in sheets and so much more.
