Characters is the home of South Australian Illustrator, Mandy Foot. So named as this is what she enjoys most - capturing the character of her subject, whether it be a realistic pet portrait or stampeding farm animals in a children's book - it's all about the character!

 

The great big balloons have lifted off at the Somerset Festival Celebration of Literature (what a wonderful festival!) where my latest children's book has just been launched 'Captain Kangaroo and the Great Balloon Race'. This is Captain Kangaroo's second adventure through the Australian skies - join him as he battles dust clouds in a mad dash to rescue his Aussie friends. All the characters from the first book are with him - from Mrs P. (short for platypus) who still insists on taking too much luggage, to sunsmart wombats and dare devil emus, and even a few stow aways in the baskets - can you find who has hitched a ride on those wonderfully colourful balloons?
