As a self proclaimed animal nut and horse lover, Mandy's studio is also occupied by two sheepdogs, Cody and Mav, (Cody is the Border Collie for which the drawing was based on for the Barnyark illustration) and not to forget the cat affectionately known as Kung Fu Maow Maow - she reeks havoc where ever she goes, and yes, and the horses are right outside the back door.
After completing a Bachelor of Design specialising in Illustration at the University of SA in 1992, Mandy entered the offset printing industry as an account manager for high quality print firms, to expand her knowledge in print production and all the while freelancing at the same time. This gave her the ability to offer a full service to clients combining the Illustration with Graphic Design and following through with the finished printed product.
Over the last 15 years she has particularly relished the work produced for the Adelaide Zoo Education Service as this gave her the opportunity to draw just about every animal you can think of and explore a vast range of styles and techniques. These were applied to brochures, posters, activity books and online articles to name a few. Many of these illustrations can be seen in the animated section of the Gallery. As a result her work is very versatile and not limited to one particular style.
Over the years clients have included numerous government departments, design agencies, corporate clients such as Mitsubishi, small businesses and one on one clientele. Now freelancing full time, Mandy has recently completed her first two children's books, with more on the horizon.
